A nine-panel colored comic strip featuring a young woman (Yuka, 25) with a bun, who has played Minecraft since beta. The story explores how early gaming experiences with networking and farming influenced her interest in coding and horticulture. The comic contrasts modern, easy Minecraft multiplayer updates with the difficult past when opening a server required hours of trial and error using tools like 'LogMeIn Hamachi,' often ending in frustrating 'Connection Timed Out' messages. Due to these limitations, Yuka spent most of her time on Minecraft "farming" as it didn't require advanced networking. She believes this experience ultimately led her to choose a major in Horticulture. The comic shows a side-by-side comparison of Yuka in a white lab coat observing Minecraft plants and a portrait of 'Steve' (the Minecraft protagonist). The narrative cites a 2025 Stack Overflow survey stating that 15.2% of developers aged 18–24 learned to code through games. It concludes that many developers likely had similar experiences. In the final panels, Yuka smiles while looking at complex redstone circuitry in Minecraft and then resumes coding on her laptop, reflecting that the frustrating past "digging" was actually a precious memory.
