A nine-panel comic strip in a detailed black-and-white style. The protagonist, a man with bobbed hair, discusses the dilemma of using polite versus informal language with AI. The story begins with the protagonist being asked why he uses honorifics (polite language) with AI. While it's a habit, he explores a friend's argument that informal language is more "token-efficient" and direct. A comparison panel shows that polite sentences consume more tokens (represented by stacks of coins) than short, informal commands. However, the protagonist researches further and finds conflicting results: while informal language saves tokens, polite and structured prompts often trigger higher-quality responses from AI models trained on professional data. The comic then introduces a broader issue: the "Token Tax." Since most AI models are trained primarily on English, non-English languages like Korean require significantly more tokens to convey the same meaning. The protagonist looks concerned while holding a receipt labeled "AI TOKEN TAX," noting that non-English speakers unknowingly pay this "tax." He concludes by suggesting that in a future where AI usage might be billed by volume, knowing how to balance language style and token usage will become a crucial skill. The final panel shows him pointing upward, ready to share "tips for saving AI fees."
