Lately, I've been visiting my grandparents more often. Maybe it's because, as I get older, I’m starting to realize how precious the people around me are. Of course, it could simply be because I enjoy spending time with them or just have more time on my hands. Either way, it’s a good thing, so I’m accepting it as it is.
I visited them again yesterday. Every time I see them, they share a lot of advice, but two things particularly stood out to me yesterday. The first was to plan my career path carefully. My grandfather is right, and I couldn’t really argue with him.
The second piece of advice was about three essential yet challenging principles to live by. My grandfather shared the following:
1. Don’t waste your time in your twenties.
2. Always repay kindness or favors you’ve received.
3. Even if you have to decline a request, make sure to show that you genuinely wanted to help.
I believe all three are true. When I think about the second piece of advice, I realize there are so many people who have helped me, but I haven't been in touch with them as often as I should. Writing this down now makes me reflect on that again.
How do you see yourself? Are you able to uphold at least one of these three principles?
It's already the end of Sunday night. I hope you have a great week ahead, and I look forward to sharing more thoughts with you in the future. Thank you for reading.
